Nicky Romero will be visiting the Pioneer Dj School exclusively, where he will be teaching a masterclass. Fedde le Grand picked up his track ‘’My Friend’’ and played it at Sensation Amsterdam, which caused a massive breakthrough. Nicky Romero is now firmly established in the Dutch House Scene as a bright young, very promising artist!
Never ones to pass up on an opportunity to showcase the multi talents of a rising star DJ/Producer.. Anna Agency has the pleasure of announcing the addition of DJ/Producer Nicky Romero – exclusively to the Anna Agency roster.

Nicky hits the first snare drum at the age of 6 and started playing drums in a fanfare. After playing a year or three, he’d been asked to play in a huge group who had acts on street and big events. That was fun though, but not enough for small Nicky. At the age of 12 he got is first set of drums and started practising, practising and practising. Well, after 3 years playing drums every day and night, it was enough and he changed the drums for turntables...
These day’s almost every high rated DJ has a few Romero records in his bag, with remixes for artists such as Ian Carey, Dirty South, David Vendetta and Sidney Samson this DJ has definitely left his mark in today’s house music scene.
He just finished his new track “My Friend” which reached #4 at the Beatport Overall Chart and #1 at the Beatport Progressive Chart. Supported by DJs such as Tiesto, Axwell, SHM, Mark Knight, Funkagenda and Fedde le Grand, who he also is working very close with at the moment! The Shapeshifters are Simon Marlin and Max Reich. Party people at heart, the pair met when Simon signed Max to the Down Boy record label that he worked for. Musically, Simon found his enthusiasm for house on the dance floor in the late 80’s and early 90’s promoting nights and DJing, while Max got into production via a passion for techno, honed whilst throwing illegal raves in his native city of Gothenburg.
 In 2008 they found a new home at Defected Records, leaving Positiva after 4 years, and have since made their mark at the world’s leading house music label releasing ‘Chime’ – a re-work of the Orbital classic – and the ‘Young Dubs EP’ which included ‘Sideways’ and ‘Nocturnal’. The Shapeshifters currently have a host of new releases lined up for 2010. First up will be ‘Helter Skelter’ which features Steve Edwards on vocals and is due for release in May. ‘Helter Skelter’ is gaining significant pre-release momentum and recently had its first Radio 1 play on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection.
Throughout 2009, The Shapeshifters remixed Natalie Imbruglia’s latest single (‘Want’) and collaborated with Frankie Knuckles on ‘The Ones You Love’ which is out now on Nocturnal Groove. They have also recently remixed Candi Staton (‘Musical Freedom) and have mixed compiled a digital compilation (‘Nocturnal Grooves : Vol.2 – Mixed By The Shapeshifters’) for their own Nocturnal Groove imprint.
Aside from 3 top 10 hit records ('Lola's Theme', 'Back To Basics' and 'Incredible'), a BRIT Award nomination, a bucket full of remixes and productions for the likes of George Michael, Faithless, Frankie Knuckles, Todd Terry, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis and Moby, the pair continue to produce the goods. They had the best selling house cut on Beatport in 2008 (‘Lola’s Theme (08 Re-Edit)’) and in 2009 delivered remixes for Empire Of The Sun (‘We Are The People’) and Kleerup feat. Titiyo (‘Longing For Lullabies’).

 Their critically acclaimed ‘The Shapeshifters - 'In the House'’ DJ mix compilation was another success in an already impressive portfolio and this year The Shapeshifters have also be mixing the ‘Summerdayze’ compilation to coincide with their recent Australian tour in January 2010. Throughout 2010, The Shapeshifters will hold DJ residencies for Defected @ Pacha (Ibiza – Summer 2010) and at Mansion (Miami) as well as at their long running party hang ‘Nocturnal’, which has recently hosted events at Matter (London) and runs alongside their own Nocturnal Groove label. BBC 6 Mix celebrates the May Day weekend with a brand new mix from techno pioneer Derrick May.
Derrick - best known for his 1987 dance anthem Strings of Life under the name Rhythim Is Rhythim - has been an iconic name on the techno scene for over twenty years, DJing worldwide to a devoted fan base. Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, May's work - alongside fellow DJs Juan Atkins and Inner City's Kevin Saunderson - has provided the catalyst for a number of producers worldwide.
In his latest 6 Music show Derrick plays a selection of tunes which have influenced and inspired him including tracks by Brian Eno, Peven Everett and Model 500. Inthemix.com.au interviewed Marco as his Australian Tour is coming up.

After a triumphant 2009 punctuated by a couple of Australian visits for Sensation NYE and Trance Energy, Dutch tech-trancer Marco V is due back here in May for our inaugural Creamfields. With fans champing at the bit for the his sets in the Cream arena, the man is just as enthused.
“Creamfields is going to be mammoth,” he tells inthemix in a rare moment of downtime. “I have a great history with the festival and to be involved in bringing it to Australia for the first time is a 2010 highlight. It’s been 12 months since I was there last for Trance Energy and I had a blast. I’ve been doing a whole lot of smaller club gigs, so it’ll be nice to cut loose again with a big room ambience.”

Story: With a bolt on dose of Madness coursing through his veins, Marcel leaned into 2010 with a crunching release that ripped through the ether and cemented his position from beginning of a new decade as a truly meteoric producer. Titled ‘The Bottle’, and released thorough his stable home Be YourSelf  Music/High Contrast Recordings, the track was tagged by Marcel’s most celebrated fan Tiësto as “Another Bomb” and has since notched up critical support among the dance media as another epic release.

Story: Infrequent to the mould of a remixer, Marcel was eventually convinced into doing a second remix in 2009 when former world #1 Tiësto put in a request.  A long time supporter of Marcel’s material, Tiësto asked him to remix his late 2009 single 'Escape Me' – the resulting effect was a massive peak time dance floor release with Marcel's booming beats complimenting the melancholic vocals of CC Sheffield.

Dutch beat master Bart B More has done it again. Cranking out a remix which has caught the attention of the big international DJs as well as the masses. His remix for In The Zone has hit #5 on Beatport's overall chart.

Toronto based Music Creator Flipside has created a driving, big room beast of a track, featuring his trademark swagger laced delivery and witty lyricism. With successful collabs between Flip and Bart fresh in mind Flipside's own imprint PRB Recordings knew the Dutch master of sway would take the original to a next level. As they put it "It pains me how a guy from Holland has SO much friggen swag... DJ Premier aint got nothing on Bart!".

Bart delivered and created a hyper electro-funk that kicks off with a thick snare roll clearly indicating it is about to get nasty. Dutch DJ/producer Hardwell presents his very own imprint Revealed Recordings. The young house sensation reveals a fresh and open-minded label, of which the first release, a collab of Hardwell and Funkadelic, will be out March 29th.
This week the Winter Music Conference is held in Miami, one of the major happenings in the dance music industry. Hardwell will promote the launch of his label and is on high demand, with gigs lined up at Ultra Music Festival, a pool party at the Sagamore and five others.
The 22-year old Robbert van der Corput, residing under the Hardwell moniker for almost a decade already, is ready for the next step in his already impressive musical career. By setting up his own label, Revealed Recordings, he continues to follow the successful path he’s already started to create. The youngster has had several releases on labels like Rising Music, Spinnin’ and Cr2, of which his ‘Feel So High’, ‘Twilight Zone’ and ‘Display’ were supported by all the big jocks. Hardwell’s remixes for the likes of Fedde Le Grand, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Bob Sinclar have established him as one of the most requested remixers around. His ‘Eclectic Beatz’ series, of which the final edition will be out in stores April 2nd, are some of the best selling mix albums of the past 4 years. When it comes to dj’ing, there’s not a lot of clubs left the DJ hasn’t seen yet. With five gigs in Miami lined-up, an extensive tour in Australia only just behind him and not a single weekend off for the next couple of months, the Hardwell sound is on high demand. By kicking off his Revealed Recordings, he steps into the next gear of his musical career.
The first release of Revealed Recordings, that’ll be out March 29th, is a new collaboration of Hardwell and Funkadelic, ‘Get Down Girl’. One of Holland’s best loved dance artists – MC Gee’s powerful voice, unique lyrics and flamboyant stage manner have earned him tons of fans around the world!

At the age of 20 MC Gee decided to move to Tenerife and work in the clubs there where the UK house and garage scene was massive. There he excelled performing with DJs like EZ, Luck and MC Neat, Spoony (Dream Team). He also did some tracks with some producers from Italy (Triple X). After 4 years Gee returned back to England to chill, spend time with his family and try to pursue a career in professional football where he played for 1 season for 2nd division Wycombe Wanderers.

Due to injury Lee (MC Gee) started working again in the music industry. MC Gee fancied a new challenge and decided that he was going to try the Netherlands, 2 years ago he had his first gig in Eindhoven where he was spotted by DJ Yamani who had all the connections MC Gee needed. It wasn’t very long before everybody was talking about this new MC from England who was ripping up the house, garage and drum ‘n bass scene in Holland.
In this short time he has been moving towards being 1 of the top MCs in the country, performing at Amsterdam clubs and parties like Paradiso, Salsa Lounge,In Bed@Hotel Arena, the More, Loveboat2, Rush, Sundae, Chemistry@Escape, 020, Milky Way, Sneakerz@Panama, Ambassador@Amsterdam Arena, Luxurush@Heineken Music Hall and in other cities Vasquesz, Urban Town @ Nighttown, Hufters@Now-Wow, Storm, Poema, Tivoli, The Rechter, Extrema (art of silence), Mezzo, Nightlive plus many more clubs in Belgium, Germany and Poland.

So far this year Mc Gee has been very active on the club circuit performing at some of Holland'’s biggest outdoor events like Dance Valley, Mystery Land and Extrema to name a few. MC Gee has become one of Holland’s most top MCs with residencies in every major city in the Netherlands, so watch out for MC Gee setting the place on fire at a club near you.
